Hi there and happy new year! As announced I want to publish additional content this year and I want to start with a post about the dividends in December 2020. Happy reading!
Because of the crash last year I had the chance to build a beautiful stock portfolio which distribute nice dividends onto my account. With this blog series I want to share with you how many dividends I receive, and also which companies increased/decreased/cut their dividends and how I handle that.
In December, I received dividends from REITs and one tobacco company, and also from a BDC and an oil company. In total 152,55€. The numbers are neither gross, nor net. For example for US dividends there is already 15% withholding tax deducted.
- Imperial Brands
First place in December is Imperial Brands with 25,63€ gross. There was already a dividend decrease by 1/3 in the first half year of 2020.
- Brookfield Property Partners
BPY takes the 2nd place with 20,95€. One day later I sold my entire position there, because Brookfield Asset Management wants to take BPY private. I sold the 78 shares for 16,91 USD per share, which is higher than the offered 16,50 USD. The change into parts of BAM shares or the Prefered Shares was out of the question.
- Exxon Mobil
14,65€ was the distribution from Exxon Mobil in December. Here I'm even in the good a few percent, after the oil stocks came back a bit.
- Ares Capital Corp
From the BDC Ares Capital Corp I received 12,18€ dividends. I want to strengthen the BDCs in my portfolio further, but at the moment I just wait how the US economy, and especially the SME sector develops in the first two quarters.
- Public Storage
5th place is another REIT, namely Public Storage. The self storage sector had a nice development compared to other sectors. PSA distributed 9,64€ dividends.
- Imperial Brands
There are many other and smaller dividends, which you can see in the screenshot above.
I have several brokers for my stocks, but the majority are German ones, so European readers of my blog cannot register there. As you may know I'm very transparent about the income I receive if you use one of my * affiliate or referral links. Most of the time there is a bonus for you, but never ever costs!
Degiro is my second largest broker. A while ago they did a fusion with the German broker flatex and it's now the biggest broker in Europe. You can trade already from 0,50€ directly on the NYSE or other US stock exchanges. Also, I trade European options there.
If you use my link* and register an account on Degiro you get a refund of 20€ transaction credit. You only need to spend 20€ transaction credit within 3 months. If you do so, and only then, I have also the possibility to get a refund.

*Some links in my posts are affiliate or referral links. That means I get a little bonus. For each of those who use these links, however, there are no costs or other disadvantages. On the contrary, there is usually a start bonus or cashback. So if you use these links, you support my blog and for that I say thank you in advance!
